I asked myself that same question. When our Real Estate Agent scheduled to have an Aerial Photographer take photos of our house for the MLS Listing, I thought it was just a waste of money. I didn't realize how wrong my antiquated thoughts really were. When I saw the pictures of our house from a bird's point of view, I realized how much more perspective is offered to the prospective buyer searching through the MLS Listing. Not only did our house look amazing, but you could actually see how large our lot really was. More importantly, you had an amazing view of the pool that a normal photography session would never have been able to capture.
As soon as the listing hit the MLS, calls began coming in scheduling appointments for a walk-through. The couple that bought our house simply sent their Real Estate Agent in to do a walk-through via FaceTime. Sure enough, the house was every bit as amazing as the photos claimed and this couple ended up buying the house and they did so within 5 days of it being listed. I highly doubt they would have been so interested had they not have been able to view the aerial photos.
While ground-level photos do an excellent job of showing off the interior of a home, they simply can't show the perspective needed to really highlight a home's exterior appeal. Viewing a home from a bird's eye view lets the prospective buyer see the entire lot, the contours of the roof, the layout of the property, and the special features such as a patio or a pool have to offer.
Gone are the days where "curb-appeal" attracted prospective buyers. Now "aerial-appeal" is the new must-have in order to draw clients to a property. Aerial photos can provide unique advantages so important to you as the Real Estate Agent in such a highly competitive market.
And, as you so well know, unique advantages are key to closing more sales.
